Last weekend, the Cavalier men and women each won dual meets against ACC rivals North Carolina and Duke. The No. 10 women came from behind to defeat the Tar Heels on Saturday, 169-131, before beating the Blue Devils, 152-122, on Sunday. The No. 11 men took down UNC, 194-106, and Duke, 153-140.
Four members of the UVa program earned ACC weekly honors, including sophomore JB Kolod and freshman Katie Warburg, who were named Male and Female Diver of the Week, respectively. Junior Brad Phillips earned Male Swimmer of the Week, while sophomore Ellen Williamson was named Co-Female Swimmer of the Week.
Both Wisconsin teams come to town with a 4-5 record on the season, after dropping decisions at USC two weeks ago. UVa and the Badgers have never met in dual meet action.
Virginia Tech’s men are ranked No. 17 in the latest CSCAA polls and are 8-1-1 on the season, while the Hokie women are 8-3. Last year, the Cavalier men rallied for a 169-131 win, while the UVa women earned a 166-132 victory in Christiansburg, Va.
Up next, Virginia returns to action Feb. 16-17 for the Cavalier Invitational at the AFC. The women’s ACC Championships will be held Feb. 20-23, while the men’s conference meet is Feb. 27-March 2. Both meets will be held in Greensboro, N.C.
