DES MOINES, Iowa - Virginia rising senior Abbey Karin competed Thursday at the 2013 USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held at Drake Stadium. Karin places 10th in the women's javelin competition, as she made her debut at the meet.

Karin threw 49.34m (161'10') on her final throw to finish 10th in the field of 13 athletes. It marked her second-best throw of the year.

"Abbey came here determined to improve from her performance at the NCAA Championships," said assistant coach Mario Wilson. "She handled the conditions well. With 47m, 48m and 49m, she had the best sequence of her career. I am proud of her and it was a great way to end the season. I know she is determined to come back and have an even better showing as a senior in 2014."
