CHULA VISTA, Calif. - Virginia throws coach Martin Maric and first-year Filip Mihaljevic (Livno, Bosnia and Herzegovina) represented Croatia at a pair of meets at the United States Olympic Training Center. The meets feature Olympic hopefuls from around the world.

Saturday's meet saw Maric set the Croatian national record in the discus with a throw of 222-10 to win the event. The previous record was held by Roland Varga, who threw 220-6 in 2010. Mihaljevic was third with a throw of 197-6.

In the first meet Thursday, Maric won the discus competition with a throw of 206-10. Mihaljevic was third with a throw of 189-5 as the athletes enduring hot temputures over 100 degrees.
