Cavalier Women Release 2017 Cross Country Schedule

Aug. 9, 2017

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.– The Virginia women’s cross country team announced its 2017 schedule on Wednesday (Aug. 9). The Cavaliers will host three meets during the season, including the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships.

“We have a great schedule set up to prepare us for the championship portion of the season,” said women’s cross country coach Todd Morgan. “There are some very good teams coming to Charlottesville for the Panorama Invitational again this year and it should be a great chance for people to watch a good collegiate cross country competition. Running the NCAA Southeast Regional meet at home is also an exciting opportunity for our athletes."

The Hoos begin with back-to-back home competitions, starting with the UVA Duals on Sept. 2. The meet will feature Liberty, JMU and Norfolk State. On Sept. 23, UVA hosts its annual Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational beginning at 10 a.m.

On Oct. 23, Virginia will travel to Madison, Wis., for the Wisconsin Nuttycombe Invitational. The 31-team event features six top-10 teams from last year’s NCAA Championships (No. 4 NC State, No. 5 Stanford, No. 6 San Francisco, No.7 New Mexico, No. 8 Michigan State and No. 9 Eastern Michigan State).

UVA will race on familiar terrain with the Southeast Regional course and NCAA Championship course. Both the ACC Championships (Oct. 27) and NCAA Championships (Nov. 18) will be held at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, Ky. providing a chance for UVA to see the championship site before the national meet. Virginia will host the NCAA Southeast Regional for the fourth time in five years at Panorama Farms on November 10.

Admission to all home Virginia cross country meets is free.
