Kiser is a Finalist for the Lott IMPACT Trophy

Nov. 29, 2017

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia linebacker Micah Kiser has been named one of four finalists for the Lott IMPACT Trophy, announced the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation today (Nov. 29). The only repeat Lott IMPACT Trophy semifinalist from 2016, Kiser was also the only player from the ACC amongst the nine semifinalists announced earlier this month.

Kiser (Sr., Baltimore, Md.) ranks No. 1 in the ACC and No. 3 in the nation with 134 tackles. His 134 stops tie his 2016 output and Wali Rainer (1998) for No. 4 on UVA’s single-season tackle list. Kiser is a finalist for the Campbell Trophy and the Senior CLASS Award, while he is a semifinalist for the Butkus Award.

Kiser is on track to become the second player in ACC history to lead the league in tackles in three straight seasons, joining Boston College’s Luke Kuechly (2009-11). He is No. 5 all-time at UVA with 400 career tackles and owns 20 career double-digit tackle games in 36 career starts. Kiser’s 385 tackles since the start of the 2015 season are the most in the nation during that span. He was named a first-team All-ACC honoree for the third straight season earlier this week.

Joining Kiser as finalists are: Mikah Fitzpatrick (Alabama), Josey Jewell (Iowa) and Harrison Phillips (Stanford).

Kiser is UVA’s second all-time finalists. Chris Long was a finalist in 2007.

"Character is a key component in our award," said Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation Board Chairman John Hamilton. "It is our honor to recognize these players who represent their team, their university and their community with such passion and dedication."

The Lott IMPACT Trophy selects a winner with qualities that are embodied by Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott - Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.

Kiser and the other finalists will attend the Lott IMPACT Trophy Award Banquet, held at the Pacific Club in Newport Beach on Dec. 10. The winner of the 2017 Lott IMPACT Trophy will be announced at banquet, held at the Pacific Club in Newport Beach. The award show will be televised live on CBS Sports Network at 5 PST.

The Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation will make a $25,000 donation to the general scholarship fund of the winner's university and $5,000 to each of the schools of the runner-ups. In 13 years, the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation has now donated more than $1.3 million, including over $500,000 to universities throughout the country.
