DALLAS, Texas - Virginia junior Alex Domijan (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) will play former world No. 4 James Blake on Tuesday in the first round of the main draw of the Challenger of Dallas, a $100,000 event on the USTA Pro Circuit. Domijan reached the main draw with three victories in the qualifying draw.
Domijan downed Mitchell Krueger 6-1, 7-5 in the final round of qualifying on Monday to reach the main draw. Blake, currently ranked No. 116 in the world, has won 10 ATP singles titles and has 357 career tour level victories.
Two other Cavaliers fell in the final round of qualifying on Monday. Jarmere Jenkins (College Park, Ga.) fell to top-seeded Alex Bogdanovic of Great Britian 6-3, 6-3. Mac Styslinger (Birmingham, Ala.) was edged by South African Jean Andersen 7-5, 4-6, 6-2.
"I am proud of how the guys have performed this weekend against some of the top players in the world," said head coach Brian Boland. "We are seeing a lot of progress being made and having the opportunity to play events such as this Challenger will only help our players further develop and get ready for the remainder of the collegiate season."
Domijan-Blake is Tuesday night's featured match at the T Bar M Racquet Club. The match is the second of the evening session that begins at 8 p.m. ET. A live internet broadcast of the match will be available at http://www.usta.com/Pro-Tennis/Pro-Circuit/pro_circuit_live/.
