Chapel Hill, N.C. - The 27th-ranked Virginia women's golf team finished 15th at the Tar Heel Invitational that wrapped up Sunday in Chapel Hill, N.C. UVa's 54-hole total of 31-over 895 included a final round effort of 12-over 300. Duke won the 18-team tournament at 7-under 857.
Virginia was led by Portland Rosen, who placed eighth at 1-under 215. She carded a final round score of even par 72. The finish marked the fourth time in Rosen's career she has posted a top-10 finish. It was her best tournament performance since she was the runner-up at Flordia's Gator Invitational last March.
Briana Mao shot 78 during the final round to finish 48th at 225. Elizabeth Brightwell was 64th at 228. Lauren Diaz-Yi and Alex Hershberger shared 76th place at 231 and Kaira Martin was 85th at 233. Hershberger was playing as an individual and her result did not count toward UVa's team scoring.
Clemson's Ashlan Ramsey took medalist honors at 9-under 207.
The Cavaliers will wrap up the fall at the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C. set to be played Oct. 25-27.
