Caesarea, Israel - Virginia senior golfer Portland Rosen (Sugar Land, Texas) won two silver medals in the open golf division at the 2013 Maccabiah Games that concluded today (July 30) in Israel. Rosen had a three-round total of 222 that included scores of 72, 78 and 72 at the Pete Dye designed Caesarea Golf Club in Caesarea, Israel.
Rosen finished second behind Duke's Laetitia Beck, a native of Caesarea, who competed for Team Israel. Beck shot consecutive rounds of 69 to win the title with a 54-hole total of 207.
The United States finished second in the team competition at 682, two strokes behind Israel. Sweden was third (702) and Switzerland (835) was fourth. The golf competition at the Maccabiah Games featured 18 countries and more than 250 players competed in various categories and age groups.
Rosen was an honorable mention All-American in 2012 after finishing eighth at the NCAA Championships.
The Maccabiah Games is an international Jewish athletic competition held in Israel every four years. Maccabiah is open to Jewish athletes as well as Israeli athletes regardless of religion.
