CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - U.S. Lacrosse has announced the 38-player roster for the 2014-15 U.S. Women's National Team with Virginia's Courtney Swan (Vero Beach, Fla.) and Morgan Stephens (Olney, Md.) being named to the squad.

Players were selected from an 81-player invite-only tryout pool, and were evaluated by the U.S. Women's National Team coaching staff, led by head coach Ricky Fried, as well as several top-level college coaches. The team will train and compete in several exhibition events in the lead-up to the 2017 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) Women's World Cup in Surrey, England. Ultimately, 18 players will represent the U.S., as the team goes for a third consecutive and eighth overall world title. The team will next convene for training on August 1-3 at Georgetown University.

Swan, an IWLCA Second-Team All-American and a IWLCA First-Team All-Region and Second-Team All-ACC honoree who was also a nominee for the Tewaaraton Award, ranked 16th in the nation with 80 points this season (53 goals, 27 assists). Swan was third in the ACC and 15th in the nation in draw controls, averaging 4.57 per game. Swan, who helped lead the Cavaliers to the NCAA Semifinals this season, was the recipient of the Elite 89 Award, presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA at the NCAA Championship.

Stephens, an IWLCA Second Team All-American and Second Team All-ACC honoree this season, earned IWLCA All-South Region second-team honors in 2013 and was named to the first team this year. Stephens, who began the season as a midfielder, has been tasked with shutting down opponent's top scoring threats since moving to defense. Stephens is ninth in the conference, averaging 1.0 caused turnovers per game. On the offensive end, Stephens has also scored 18 goals with 10 assists.
