CHARLOTTESVILLE - The top-ranked Virginia women's soccer team begins a three-match homestand to conclude the regular season Thursday with a match against Miami. Game time at Klöckner Stadium is set for 7 p.m.
Tickets for the game are $7 for adult general admission and $5 for youth, senior and faculty/staff general admission. Group tickets (20 or more) are $4. Free parking is available in the University Hall lots.
The Cavaliers will be playing at Klöckner Stadium for the first time in two weeks. Virginia has had three of the 10 largest women's soccer crowds in school history for the last three home games, including a school-record 2,838 fans for the 3-2 double-overtime win over Notre Dame on Oct. 10.
Virginia (16-0, 10-0 ACC) is the nation's only unbeaten and untied team. In their sixth week as the nation's consensus No. 1 team, the Cavaliers lead the nation in scoring at 3.25 goals per game. The Cavaliers are the only team in the nation to have three players ranked in the top 75 in scoring nationally. Junior midfielder Morgan Brian (St. Simons Island, Ga.) and sophomore forward Makenzy Doniak (Chino Hills, Calif.) are tied for the team lead with 29 points each. Sophomore forward Brittany Ratcliffe (Williamstown, N.J.), the reigning ACC Player of the Week, has 23 points this season.
The Cavaliers are coming off a 2-0 victory at No. 4 North Carolina Sunday. Ratcliffe and Doniak scored as Virginia handed the Tar Heels just their second multi-goal loss since 1986, a span of 690 games.
The Hurricanes (8-6-1, 3-6-1 ACC) are coming off a 3-3 draw with Boston College Sunday in Coral Gables. Miami is 2-2-1 during the month of October, but is looking for its first ACC road win of the season.
Virginia leads the all-time series 8-1-1, including a 5-0-0 mark at Klöckner Stadium. The Cavaliers have won the last five meetings in the series, including a 3-0 win last season in Coral Gables.
The Cavaliers continue their homestand Sunday as they host No. 3 Florida State. The game will start at 2 p.m. and will be the first time Klöckner Stadium hosts a matchup of two top-three women's soccer teams.
